how do you know when to stop?
In practice yesterday, we had a player come back from being injured. He has not practiced in about a month, and has just been able to ride an exercise bike for about 2 weeks. He was struggling doing the work-out and the running. The trainers wanted to pull him out of practice but we as a coaching staff said he need to fight through it, So my question is how do you know to keep pushing the players or to cut them a break? It very hard to determine because we want players to be tough and to have to a never quit attitude. Please leave comments if you have any information.

I believe that you need to push a player to limits but if they are just coming back and haven't been conditioning like the others than they shouldnt be expected to do the same as the other players that have been working out. I think that a seperate workout plan should be made up for that player to give them the gradual build up that the rest of the players got.
That's being soft Rena!!!!! He should have went harder in on the bike, and it was the first 15 minutes if practice.
